Mae. is about the need for an escape from reality. She yearns for that connection and finds it in the romantic video game "Lonely Island." You play as the character Mae who, in the game, levels up by fighting goblins, cleaning the fort and growing crops. You can meet new characters and build a romantic connection with them. But as you were playing the game, it suddenly crashed. However, the game isn't happy and vibrant as it originally was. Instead, this monster that look like silhouettes are slowly killing off the world.
